WPBT WSOP Satellite Tourney Recap...

Initially I was a bit worried about my table seating with S.t.B and CJ at my table but I felt it might be a special night when I looked down and woke up with KK on the first hand. I reraised CJ’s small raise a goodly amount and he folded with a huff.

Even though I was called a donkey and a tourist numerous times by the Greatest Poker Player in the Known Universe I felt like I played pretty well. I made a number of mistakes but none ended up bad enough to bust me because they were more often than not betting mistakes where I had a monster hand and got excited and pushed or donked off a few thousand trips chasing without proper odds.

From what I can remember and looking through my hand history I only remember one time (my Huge Hand of the Night #2 below) against Heather where I put all of my chips at risk the entire tournament and that was when I pushed on her reraise with preflop where I had AA because I knew she had a huge hand and felt like she would call since she had a huge stack. I might be wrong and there may be more but I don’t remember.

I believe I was the 2nd to 100k in chips and 1st to 200k. My stats look pretty amazing if I do say so myself, especially the number of hands won without a showdown. I feel my play was solid, I kept focused (I didn’t get tired until about 2am thanks to the Folger’s), I didn’t put myself in tough decision spots, and of course I hit a few huge hands which you have to do against tough competition like the blogger community.

There were a few times late in the tournament at the final table where I thought that the wind had gone out of my sails but I hunkered down and kept at it and it paid off. That sounded stupid didn’t it. Did I just say hunkered down??? Oh well…

I was yet amazed again at how tough the action is at these tables for me. I really enjoy playing as I believe it makes me a better decision maker at the tables which is the ultimate goal for me.

635 hands played and saw flop:
- 32 times out of 95 while in small blind (33%)
- 26 times out of 93 while in big blind (27%)
- 68 times out of 447 in other positions (15%)
- a total of 126 times out of 635 (19%)

Pots won at showdown - 17 out of 31 (54%)
Pots won without showdown - 129

Huge Hand of the Night #1
Hand #249 in honor of Jason where I catch the antichrist and busted DrPauly.

One funny thing about this hand is that before it Heather was a huge chip leader (some 116k) and after the dust settled it put me and her at around 80k and 70k each which was significantly higher than the next closest stack. Matt chatted something that I still chuckle about 2 days later.

Okay I promise no more hand histories. I know there are some people that can’t stand them.

For all of the people I played with I sincerely enjoyed myself and I hope you did too. I will do my best to represent the blogging community as well as I can at the WSOP. I really do enjoy the camaraderie. It can't be beat.

I also want to congratulate my fellow partner in crime, Kevin who was tough competition and won the other seat. Maybe we'll get to see each other out in Vegas.

Anyways… I want to sincerely thank Iggy for putting all of this on and for kicking in an extra $210 to the pot to send 2 bloggers.

Who else would’ve done this?????

Exactly… So Bonus Code: IGGY dammit!!!

And for posterity's sake the beginning of the final table...
